Instagram vs Reality

Look at the left to see what im really working with today 🤣🤣🤣

We love the beautiful photos... Dont get me wrong. @womenbymag made me look amazing in this! The light, the room, the outfit, the hair, the makeup (thanks @cynfulmakeup for glamming me up!

Shoots like this are sometimes a part of my "workday" too but not on the reg!

The 2nd picture is more my jam when I am at home.

I'm in yoga pants because i am usually about to workout or I just finished working out, or because i really jusy like comfy bottoms. No makeup. Hair is frizzy and half blow dried because I didn't have enough time. Books, papers, planners, cords and all kinds of things around me. I am probably hungry because i forgot to eat. But I ALWAYS have warm beverage somewhere within reach.

Homemade Medicine Balls are my go to lately. Thanks to @ky_crook_on_purpose for the recipe! Its soooo good!

However... All of that is exactly why I do what I do anyway. Success to me is yoga pants and no makeup on a Monday.

Success is also stilletos and photoshoots on a Tuesday.

Both scenarios are very much a part of my life and i am here for it!

All this to say, we do what we do when we need to do it because we are CEOs.

We build empires. We make money. We change lives. We impact millions.

Whether you do it in fuzzy socks or stilletos is completely up to you. I'm cheering you on either way.

If you wanna share, I'd love to hear about your Monday!

The Bad Pancake Theory…

Have you heard of the bad pancake theory in dating?

Lets apply this to your business...

Basically, when you make pancakes, the first one comes out a little wonky. But as you keep going, they get progressively better!

Usually, this is applied to dating after long term relationships. The first person you date is the bad pancake. But, it gets better after that, "they say."

Well, let's apply this theory to business. The first idea you have, the first course you create, the first video you make, the first live stream you do...all bad pancakes. When I say bad, I simply mean, it's not going to be perfect. You're still learning. And there is nothing wrong with that!

I mean sure, it's "edible" - you will be able to sell it, post it, launch it, etc...but will it be the apex of your life's work?

No! It shouldn't be.

You know how many youtube videos I made before I felt like my videos were actually...kind of good?

You know how many courses I launched before I finally felt like I created my flagship one?

You know how many talks I gave at conferences before I felt like I could own it on stage?

You know how many times I winged out my eye liner before it looked good on my face? 😂

A lot!

But you know what I never did? I never stewed in the idea that any of it had to be perfect before it made its debut. Who has time for that? I have a life to live, people to help, purpose to step into, obedience to walk in.

I kept going.

Perfectionism will kill momentum. And I am not available for that. Instead, I focused my energy on learning what I needed to learn so that it just got done! I can assess after, revamp later, and redo if necessary.

I am where I am today because I wasn't willing to lose to the idea that perfect the ONLY way to do it.

So if you're spinning your wheels in neutral because you think the first iteration of anything needs to be absolutely perfect, just remember...even a batch of pancakes never start out ready for their cookbook cover closeup the first time.

Besides, who told you it had to be perfect anyway?

That mindset is going to make this experience more painful than it ever needed to be, my friend.

Choose again.
