Want some advice?

When it comes to success, my advice boils down to this...

First, let me tell you what its not.

❌ Its not starting your day at some ungodly hour. It works for some, but not all. Find your rhythm.

❌ Its not making sure you have all your ducks in a row before you launch. Whatever that means lol. Done is better than perfect. Personally, im not that granular. I like systems, i also like the freedom i give myself to deviate when necessary.

❌ Its not having a set of curated brand colors, website or logo. Fun fact, I've never had a logo. 🤷🏾‍♀️ And my "brand colors" have evolved as i have. Not opposed to any of this btw. It just hasn't been something i put a lot of focus on.

❌ Its not waiting until "the right time." Just let go of that, it doesn't exist. The past is gone. The future is not promised. All you really have is the power of now.

My biggest piece of advice is... Show up.

Show up for the dream
Show up for the calling
Show up for your people
Show up for yourself

Homework:

Answer these questions:

Showing up looks like asking the right questions. What has God you called to do at this moment?

Showing up looks like taking the right action. Not getting #fomo and hopping on every trend that pops up on your feed. What feels the most aligned to your mission?

Showing up looks like staying in your lane and owning it. You are uniquely called to be you. You have something special that no one else has. What is that?

All the stuff you want wants you back!!!!

But you're gonna have to participate in the process, my friend! Showing up is the prerequisite. So, I just wanted to remind you of that today.

How’s Your Monday?

Dear Monday,

Thanks for having the word "mon" in you.

That's french for "mine".

In case you weren't aware, Monday, but it makes me think of you more as "my day", & frankly that sounds like a much more promising way to start the week.'

What a great reframe!

Yesterday, I had a minute to sit and process the amazingness that was the weekend. Was I tired? Sure. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

The @flourishmediaco conference/retreat was a success. Left the team much to think about with how we plan to move forward with it.

Thank you to everyone who participated, played a part, prayed for it, and paid to be there 😊. Tix to next year are already on sale and a little birdie told me they are half off! Get you one!

Church was great...and ended on time 😂😂😂

Got to have brunch with 2 of my favorite people on the planet.

Played Tennis and won 5 games in a row with my doubles partner @iamsoulua. Im telling you! I'm getting better!

Then I hopped on a plane. I'm taking some meetings out of town this week. Because this is what we do.

But today... Today is mine 🙂

Make it yours too!

Happy Monday fam!

The Bad Pancake Theory…

Have you heard of the bad pancake theory in dating?

Lets apply this to your business...

Basically, when you make pancakes, the first one comes out a little wonky. But as you keep going, they get progressively better!

Usually, this is applied to dating after long term relationships. The first person you date is the bad pancake. But, it gets better after that, "they say."

Well, let's apply this theory to business. The first idea you have, the first course you create, the first video you make, the first live stream you do...all bad pancakes. When I say bad, I simply mean, it's not going to be perfect. You're still learning. And there is nothing wrong with that!

I mean sure, it's "edible" - you will be able to sell it, post it, launch it, etc...but will it be the apex of your life's work?

No! It shouldn't be.

You know how many youtube videos I made before I felt like my videos were actually...kind of good?

You know how many courses I launched before I finally felt like I created my flagship one?

You know how many talks I gave at conferences before I felt like I could own it on stage?

You know how many times I winged out my eye liner before it looked good on my face? 😂

A lot!

But you know what I never did? I never stewed in the idea that any of it had to be perfect before it made its debut. Who has time for that? I have a life to live, people to help, purpose to step into, obedience to walk in.

I kept going.

Perfectionism will kill momentum. And I am not available for that. Instead, I focused my energy on learning what I needed to learn so that it just got done! I can assess after, revamp later, and redo if necessary.

I am where I am today because I wasn't willing to lose to the idea that perfect the ONLY way to do it.

So if you're spinning your wheels in neutral because you think the first iteration of anything needs to be absolutely perfect, just remember...even a batch of pancakes never start out ready for their cookbook cover closeup the first time.

Besides, who told you it had to be perfect anyway?

That mindset is going to make this experience more painful than it ever needed to be, my friend.

Choose again.

What’s Your Enneagram?

Ok...I've been observing this for years.

I've seen this in hundreds of my clients/students at this point. Call this an impromptu case study, but here's what I have found:

Each Enneagram type has similar sets of challenges, struggles, limiting beliefs etc when building their business as an entrepreneur.

Each Enneagram, therefore, NEEDS to build their business a certain way. It's actually imperative. I can't stress this enough.

I have yet to find a cohesive attempt to outline this with specific regards to #Entrepreneurs - so I will do that at some point.

But...If an Enneagram 2 tries to build a business using methods that work for 8s - they will struggle. If a 4 tries to expand using a 1 strategy, that's gonna feel restrictive. And so on and so forth. If a 7 tries to do it the same as a 5, they will hate every minute of it!

Cookie cutter methods don't work because people are dynamic. Thus, building a business and receiving coaching in that area should also be - it's one of the reasons I make my clients take the Enneagram at some point. It helps me help them (yes, I'm certified).

Drop your Enneagram below...I'm tryna see something.

PS - if you were triggered by this because you don't want to be "put in a box" - you're probably a 4 (jk 😂) But seriously, it's not about that. This test, as with many others, is an attempt to understand the spectrum of human typology in small bites.
